Own It

Although I definitely have my own style for my sessions, I love the challenge of incorporating my client's personal style as well. This is what makes your session different from everyone else's session! This family showed up with some amazing items they wanted to see in their son's portraits and look how sweet it turned out!

My goal  for this momma/baby pose is to get that baby as close to momma's face as possible! These two fell into it immediately!

Notice that tiny heel prick on this right foot? These are the tiny details that I don't ever remove from an image. It's things like this that tell you exactly how new this baby was for his portraits! I'm the same way with flaky skin! LEAVE IT! Don't pick! It's exactly how it's supposed to be!

Do you have a special item you'd like to incorporate into your next session?

back to basics

I'm a total blog slacker. I know it. I will admit it. I'm going to own it. And now, I'm going to change it.

We have lots to catch up on! I have changed studios and am now situated on the beautiful Frankfort Avenue in Louisville *bonus that it's right next to Joella's Hot Chicken*, I've photographed so many adorable kiddos and families, and I had another baby of my own! Many of your families have grown in numbers and I am so excited to meet more of you!

Bear with me while I get this site up to date. It's definitely wearing it's three year old face right now. I'm going to get her all shined up and ready to go again with some fantastic content. Watch for a studio tour, some behind-the-scene sessions, and lots of beautiful babies.

In the meantime, check out a sweet pea from last week. He came to me for his two month portraits and completely rocked my morning with all of his squishy goodness.

3's company

I've known their momma for YEARS and have loved watching her family grow. I did their second baby's portraits a couple of years ago, as well as a couple of family sessions. I was ecstatic when she emailed that she was needing me for their third!

To top it off, she has this history of having big babies which is totally my weakness :)

The outtakes from sibling shots are always *the* best!

Cheers!

Woodland Creatures

I met this gorgeous momma while doing some volunteer work with Cabbage Patch Settlement House; an organization dedicated to changing the lives of  at-risk children. She is their designated manager of public and donor relations, however she does so much more than just that. At each event I have been a part of, she is constantly buzzing around, organizing teams, hosting guests, and solving problems. Not only is she the go-to person for many of these events, she is also an amazing photographer who gifts The Patch with her art.

Although it's always an honor to hear someone wants to book me for a maternity and newborn package, I was *so* excited that these two chose ME to be their photographer. With both of them holding so much artistic ability, I was super nervous!

In discussing locations for their maternity session, she sent me a picture of a tree branch and gave me the name of the park. With that, I went wondering one evening to not only stumble upon the branch from the picture, but also a perfect little spot, barely tread upon, with stunning lighting. And then, magic happened...

While nothing is ever predictable with babies, this sweet girl is sure to have the most beautiful childhood imaginable with these two as parents. I can't wait to get my hands on her ;)

Cheers!

The Power of 3.

I know I brag often about my clients. I just can't help it. Long story short: I ended up as the default photographer of a birth. Loss of communications with the original photographer, then an emergency back surgery for the next. I ended up on the top of the list, and I am *so* grateful for all of these unforeseen circumstances (although I do wish my photographer friend and mentor a quick recovery!).

I will make this brief, as I know you come here for the pictures and not to read my gab, but this couple has a bond like I have never witnessed before. The love and support in that room that night was nothing short of spectacular. I could physically feel the power that these two radiate, and I consider it an honor to have been able to document it.

Happy Birthday, Samuel John.
