8 Months of Goodness - Louisville Baby Photographer - Louisville Family Photographer - Louisville KY

I say it ALL.THE.TIME. but I'm going to say it again: Watching these babies grow in front of my camera is so amazingly bittersweet. I met this sweet family well before she was born when I did her momma's maternity portraits. Now look at her!! Eight Months Old! Total insanity!

Are you serious with this?! This is her excited face!!!

She really just wanted to eat the mulch.

Oh, my momma heart aches when I see this!

Let's catch all of those little changes during your little's first year!

Motherhood Portrait Event

I am always looking for a way to celebrate other mommas. We work hard. So, so hard. Being a mother is the hardest, most rewarding thing I've ever done, and I'm pretty positive most of you feel the same way.

We are working 24 hours a day. Our brains and our hearts never truly rest. We run the calendar, we run the carpool, we run the meals and the playdates and the school events. We know when they last ate and when they last pooped. They cling to us and cry for us. We love them so deeply it aches. We are often exhausted and cringe when we hear "MOMMA" being yelled from the other room again. We take a 3.5 minute shower, allowing us a split second to cry and regroup and focus.

::I see you there::

I see you putting everyone's needs in front of your own. I see your worried eyes, and I watch as your brain thinks through 3 other things as you try to carry on a conversation.

Let's breathe together for a minute. Slow the clock. Let me hold space for you.

::Stop the clock::

Come snuggle.

Come hug.

Come laugh.

Come hold.

Come nurse.

Come love your babies.

Accept the chaos. Embrace the chaos. Treasure the chaos. It's not going to last.

Adding on the Fresh 48

I absolutely adore my Newborn Artistry Portrait sessions in the studio. My babies are all snuggly, all is calm, I move methodically, and we listen to our white noise machine. It's peaceful and bright and lovely.

However, the reason I fell in love with photography in the first place (when I was roughly 6 years old...no lie) was because of the emotions surrounding an image. I could look at a picture and feel the raw energy. I could smell the scent from that moment. It was as if I was back there. In that exact spot. Right where I hit the button with my finger and heard the pop of the flash cube. This type of photography is what leads me to the hospital rooms. This is the type of photography that doesn't get an exact plan or set up or design. This photography is raw. It is packed to the brim with emotion. It's what I fell in love with from the start:

Babies. Black and white film.

Capture this emotion and bottle it up. Let's add a Fresh 48 session to your Newborn Artistry Portrait session.

14 Day Magic

This girl's momma brought her first baby to me years ago. She was one of my very first newborns! I was still going to my client's homes and setting up wherever I could find space. I wasn't as confident as I am now, and I just didn't have it all together. That sweet baby had just hit her cluster-feeding stride and I'm not sure which one of us was more stressed out: me, the baby, or her momma!

After lots of trial and error, research, classes, and more trial and error, I have found my spot. I know exactly what's going to work, and I know exactly what's not going to work.

I know that my morning appointments will always be better than an evening appointment. I know that I will always be more successful with a wrapped baby for their first pose than an unwrapped baby. And I have learned that I would MUCH rather photograph a 12-16 day old newborn than a 5 day old newborn!

I promise you, I will walk you through these sessions. I will be the leader, I will happily hold your hand, and I will listen to what you want from your baby's first portrait session. Being a first time momma is intimidating enough. You don't need the added stress of a cranky newborn trying to get it's belly full, at the same time an inexperienced photographer is crawling around on your floor.

Take the time to discover your new baby.

Let your new baby discover you.

Rest and breathe.

I'll be at the studio around Day 14 waiting for you guys with open arms, hot coffee, and a couch.

2nd baby + an experienced newborn portrait photographer = 💗

::Zen::

I take a lot of pride in the way I run my Newborn Artistry sessions. It has taken me years of practice to perfect my style. Lots of trial and error. Lots of studying. Lots of video cramming to figure out exactly where my sweet spot was. The only thing that has remained consistent throughout this process has been my wish for my parents.

I want you to come to me with your baby and relax. I want you to sit for a couple of hours and not do a thing. I want you to sip tea and coffee, order breakfast, have a snack, read the paper, scroll through Facebook, or even take a nap. I want you to stop thinking for just a bit. Listen to the shushing noise. Allow me to take over. Allow me to do the work. Allow me to hold space (and baby) for you.

This new momma and daddy did just as directed. Nothing. They did absolutely nothing and when it was all over, the daddy looked at me and thanked me for the most zen experience of his life!!

 Let me hold space for you for a bit.
