3's company

I've known their momma for YEARS and have loved watching her family grow. I did their second baby's portraits a couple of years ago, as well as a couple of family sessions. I was ecstatic when she emailed that she was needing me for their third!

To top it off, she has this history of having big babies which is totally my weakness :)

The outtakes from sibling shots are always *the* best!

Cheers!

Newborn Model Workshop

While I am totally in love with my career as a child, family, and wedding photographer, my heart belongs to my newborns. It is simply where I want to be at all times and, while I'm there, I can't imagine being anywhere else.

I travel to my babies houses so their families don't have to bother getting life together and coming out into the real world quite so soon. In going to client's homes, I drag a TON of stuff in, set a TON of stuff up, work with the baby by myself (I don't like to ask new mommas for help!), and then drag it all back out again. I was needing someone I would trust with my own kids to help me. Nothing made more sense than to ask my sister for help!

She agreed to let me teach her the ways of the newborn artistry, she agreed to be the best blanket holder ever, and she agreed to toss me poop rags as needed as long as she didn't have to clean it up. It seems like a WIN-WIN for everyone involved!

These shots are from our first Newborn Workshop together, where my new assistant did an amazing job. Thank you so much for joining my team, Rebecca! And thank you to these mommas who agreed to bring their babies to me for this one!

Goal-Getter

I don't make resolutions.

I used to. I used to put all kinds of thought into how I would make this year so much better than last year. I used to make lists and get everything organized. I used to get my plan together and repeat it to myself over and over again. I used to.

I don't make resolutions.

I set goals.

I set goals for myself. Not to be reached by the end of the year. Not even necessarily with a time restraint attached. Just a goal. Something to reach for. And I won't go overboard. Going overboard can often lead to disappointment. Small goals. Small, attainable goals with the end results being immense. Once I complete a goal, I find a new one.

My last goal?

My website.

Oh, man. I could look at it all day.

My most recent goal?

Newborn artistry.

I will perfect it and I will specialize in it. It's where I belong.

Baby Love

I grew up with two sisters and one brother. The house was consistently noisy, very active, and NEVER a dull moment. Not only did my parents have the four of us running around, but there were typically a few friends added into the mix. One of those friends in particular kind of stuck around. He stuck around a lot, actually :) And then, not only did the four of us grow up and multiply, but so did our friends (which is why it's hard to throw a birthday party with less than 50 people...no joke)!

This sweet, sweet baby boy was on his VERY best behavior. I heard him fuss one time in 5 hours. Seriously. And when I say fuss, I mean he peeped a little bit. Like a little squeak. Not a cry. Never a cry. Perfect.

And while I'm on the subject of 'perfect', this baby's skin was just that. Not a blemish, red spot, scratch, nothing. Gorgeous olive complexion like his beautiful momma (just you wait...a little more perfection coming up...).

Love these piggies <3

This is the family who helped me to come to the decision of officially including a lifestyle session immediately following each of my newborn artistry sessions. No choice. It is a 'must have' now. No way out. These are the images that seem so unbelievably special to me.

You guys. These girls. Gah. Love, love, love them.

Oh, how they love that baby boy!

Yes. That is, in fact, the woman who birthed this baby 8 days before this. Not.Fair.

Ummm... King Bear charged me in anticipation of having his picture taken!

So happy to have grown up with this guy, and now absolutely thrilled that his family is growing along side mine. It's these kinds of friendships that last.
