I long for summer. Winter is miserable for me. The cold sinks into my bones in early October and I ache until late May. My body, mind, and soul need the warmth of the sun to function at high capacity! I'm rummaging through old images and came across this shoot with my own little guy last year. I'm not sure I've shared them anywhere other than my personal Facebook page, so I'm happy to think of hot summer nights as I make this post.
Are you dreaming of warm weather, too??? Let's get your outdoor session booked now so that you have something to look forward to!

Personality Galore
This sweet little came in for her 6 month portrait session and most definitely showed off all of that personality! She also wore a couple of my new studio wardrobe rompers and looked A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. in them 💜
Having trouble picking an outfit for your baby's portrait session? No problem! MHP now has a complete closet that you can come shop after booking!

Own It
Although I definitely have my own style for my sessions, I love the challenge of incorporating my client's personal style as well. This is what makes your session different from everyone else's session! This family showed up with some amazing items they wanted to see in their son's portraits and look how sweet it turned out!
Do you have a special item you'd like to incorporate into your next session?

My goal for this momma/baby pose is to get that baby as close to momma's face as possible! These two fell into it immediately! |

Styling Your Session
One of my favorite parts of my job is styling my sessions based on my client's personality and personal style. Once you book a session, we get to start discussing all of the fun stuff like colors, poses, and sometimes even themes!! When I spoke with this new momma, she mentioned loving natural textures, and being completely in love with a gorgeous rug she had just placed in her baby's room.
Let's talk about what colors you love for your next session!

My jaw hit the floor when she pulled this sweater out. I am a muted-toned-texture-loving photographer and this capped this Newborn Artistry session off perfectly. |

The "Older" Newborn
I follow many different photography blogs and Facebook pages where photographers gripe about the "older" newborn. SO many businesses ask for their newborns to arrive in their studios within the first 10 days. I used to be incredibly guilty of this and struggled to keep baby and momma happy and comfortable throughout my sessions.
I began noticing a trend in my work and with my clients. The older the newborn, the easier it was on all of us! I noticed that typically by Day 14, Momma has settled into a routine at home. She has started showering again (sort of!), she is able to keep up on hydrating, and she is finding that calm inside all of the chaos. Baby is growing and discovering Momma and Daddy. The baby's belly is getting bigger and is able to hold more, meaning more efficient feedings less often. That initial shock of being Earth-side is beginning to wear off and they are finding their little place in the world.
In exchange for a relaxed Momma and a full-bellied, calm baby, you get a massive gallery full of gorgeous images to share with your friends and family, beautiful artwork on your walls, and an album packed full of memories that will last a lifetime.
Although I prefer to book your newborn session a couple of months in advance, don't let that stop you from reaching out. I will do my best to get you and your sweet babe on my calendar within the month so that we can capture these special memories for you.
Have you just had a baby and think it may be too late to book your newborn artistry session? Think again! Let's get you on the calendar!

I love when my families bring in one sentimental item. Her Daddy brought his baseball glove! |

Two Month Squish
In the last post I mentioned Milestone sessions and how I have recently fallen in love with them. This guy came to me at 2 months, and he was an absolute dream baby! I don't typically expect sleepy babies for milestones, but when it's looking like it's going that way, we roll with it! I am so in love with the results! I could not have planned it any better!! Look at all of these expressions!

Milestones
I didn't used to offer milestone portraits regularly, but I have completely fallen in love with them and decided to add them to the roster. Watching these babies grow and discover their personalities is nothing short of amazing.
Get it on the calendar! You will not regret having these little moments documented!
