UP

I've known this beautiful bride-to-be and her family since she was about twelve years old. In watching her grow up, I've seen the amazing strength she's acquired, and I am *so* proud of who she is becoming.

While working with her mom, I got to hear all about the relationship these two formed in high school. Both of them so incredibly sweet, kind, and respectful of one another, I knew they were gearing up for a lifetime of partnership.

Being the biggest Disney fans I have ever met, it was only fitting for him to drop down on one knee and propose at Disney World!! Glass slipper and all! Secretly I was hoping I'd be getting the email soon after asking about engagement portraits!! Not only did that email come, but included were the plans of styling this session around the movie Up. It was then that my photographer heart jumped out of my chest with excitement!!!

Two incredible people, a styled session with tons of color, great before-the-monsoon lighting, and the sweetest love story I've ever watched unfold...

"You will always be my greatest adventure."

Cheers!

Baby A and Baby B

One of the reasons I love Facebook so much is because I get to watch people's lives unfold. It's literally like a book, with millions of characters telling their piece of the story. Through this, I was able to see the ultrasound picture that first presented Baby A and Baby B to the world, as well as the sweet birth story that unfolded around them.

With careers carrying this family away from Louisville, there was a small opportunity of time to catch them during a visit this summer for our session. These littles had not seen me since our first session(s) went awry a few years ago (think little babies in frigid Louisville temps). They hated me. Equipped with a bag full of Skittles this time, they welcomed me with open arms!

Cheers!

Samuel Strong

I first met Samuel's mommy when she hired me as her birth photographer. We recently set up Samuel's six month photo session in Downtown Louisville. The weather had different plans and forced us into one of my favorite lifestyle sessions of all time.

While I would love to tell you more about my story surrounding Samuel, his mommy and daddy, and this ridiculously fun lifestyle session, this blog post is to tell you Samuel's story instead...

Samuel was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at just 18 days old.  There are currently about 30,000 people in the US with this genetic disease and the life expectancy is only 37 years old.  While Samuel is a healthy, normal boy right now, his parents work diligently to keep him that way with medications and chest physical therapy twice daily.  Their hope is to find a cure in his lifetime that will allow him to grown into a very old man, and science is getting close!

If you care to make a donation to help find a cure for CF, you can at www.cff.org/Kentucky. Be sure to make it in honor of Samuel Sweeney!

Woodland Creatures

I met this gorgeous momma while doing some volunteer work with Cabbage Patch Settlement House; an organization dedicated to changing the lives of  at-risk children. She is their designated manager of public and donor relations, however she does so much more than just that. At each event I have been a part of, she is constantly buzzing around, organizing teams, hosting guests, and solving problems. Not only is she the go-to person for many of these events, she is also an amazing photographer who gifts The Patch with her art.

Although it's always an honor to hear someone wants to book me for a maternity and newborn package, I was *so* excited that these two chose ME to be their photographer. With both of them holding so much artistic ability, I was super nervous!

In discussing locations for their maternity session, she sent me a picture of a tree branch and gave me the name of the park. With that, I went wondering one evening to not only stumble upon the branch from the picture, but also a perfect little spot, barely tread upon, with stunning lighting. And then, magic happened...

While nothing is ever predictable with babies, this sweet girl is sure to have the most beautiful childhood imaginable with these two as parents. I can't wait to get my hands on her ;)

Cheers!
